The history of the St. Iversky Odessa monastery for men, begins in 1998. That year, on May 19, a meeting of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was held by His Beatitude Vladimir, Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine. At the meeting, the hierarchs decided to bless the opening of a new monastery in honor of the Iberian Icon of the Mother of God in Odessa. On October 23, 1998, the first dome was erected.

On October 26, 1998, on the day of the 350th anniversary of the arrival of the exact list of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God in Moscow, a festive divine liturgy was held at the Holy Iversky Odessa Monastery, headed by His Eminence Agafangel, Metropolitan of Odessa and Izmail. On this memorable day, Vladyka committed the consecration of the throne in the monastery. At the same time, the Metropolitan, as the Rector of the monastery, donated church utensils and icons from a personal collection as a gift to the young monastery.
